Maurizio Millenotti

Costume designer

Maurizio Millenotti was born in Reggiolo, Reggio Emilia. He is known for his world – famous works for both theatre and cinema.

He boasts some important collaborations with directors such as Federico Fellini (E la nave va, 1983; La voce della luna, 1990), Franco Zeffirelli (Otello, 1986), Peter Greenaway (Il ventre dell’architetto, 1987), Ermanno Olmi (Il segreto del bosco vecchio, 1993), Mel Gibson (La passione di Cristo, 2003). Nominated twice for the Academy Award for Costume Design: initially for his work in Otello (1986) and the second time for his work in Hamlet (1990), and won the David di Donatello for Best Costume Design with the movie The Legend of 1900 (La leggenda del pianista sull’Oceano) by Giuseppe Tornatore, with whom he also collaborated for Malèna (2000) and La migliore offerta (2013).
